CRICKET 2002

Developed by HB Studios and Published by EA Sports.
Released December 14th 2001 on PS2 and Jun 28th 2002 on PC.
Cricket 2002 brought many firsts, it was the first cricket game from HB Studios, it was the first Cricket Game released on PlayStation 2, though considered by many reviewers to be the worst game graphically ever released on the PS2.
The game was plagued with bugs, from minor things like not remembering custom controls, to serious issues like crashing all the time.
Reviews at the time were propped up by Cricket 2002 being the first cricket game for two years, and that was usually the conclusions, it was a ‘good enough’ game, worth playing basically only for being a cricket game. As such, there’s little worth going back for now, its successor Cricket 2004 was vastly superior in all ways, making it a hard sell to go for the 2002 version.
PlanetCricket’s Cricket 2002 Online site’s review at the time liked the graphics and presentation, but hated the sounds/commentary and called the gameplay average. The batting side of things was considered quite good, but a frustrating bowling experience was a big negative. The rankings on the side reflect that review, which you can read in full on the reviews page.
